The Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop, a most scholarly work published first in England in 1853 and then expanded in 1858, has been a classic for Christians in understanding the beginnings of all false religions since the Tower of Babel, and how centuries old pagan practices entered into institutionalized Christianity.
It is significant, since in recent years the accuracy of this monumental work has been criticized, to note a word from the original book’s “Note by the Editor”(pg. vii):
“It is gratifying to the Author's friends to know that the work has been so favorably received hitherto, and that no one, so far as we are aware, has ventured to challenge the accuracy of the historical proofs adduced in support of the startling announcement on the title page.”

I first studied this work in 1966 and wrote a six page teaching about the pagan practices that we find throughout the Church today, and especially the corrupted, perverted, pagan and demonic practices concerning Christmas and Easter. I was living with my parents at the time, having just returned from the mission field, and after this we no longer had a Christmas tree in the home like I had been brought up with, and I no longer exchanged gifts according to the pagan custom. It immediately aroused the demonic spirits that influenced the traditions that I was brought up in. Three years later I was made aware by a prophetic word spoken in a congregation how much God hates the spirits that prevail in this pagan celebration.
Also, 1966 was the same year Ralph Woodrow first published his good book, the well documented Babylon Mystery Religion. Although Ralph studied The Two Babylons (like me and multitudes of Christians through the years who have been influenced by the scholarly work of brother Hislop), it is important to note that most of Ralph’s research recorded in his book was done by himself, not Hislop, as only about 10% of his references of the over 320 items, not counting the scriptural references, refer to The Two Babylons. Thus, Ralph traveled, taught, reprinted and distributed his own well documented book many times for 30 years.
Then after being warned by a prophet I knew, not to marry his present wife, he fell under the influence of what the bible warns us about which is happening to so many in these last days.
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.” 1 Timothy 4:1-2 KJV
Beloved brothers and sisters, I have seen so many close brethren lose their ministries and even their lives, by the sin that brought all of us into bondage, the sin when Adam listened to his wife, who listened to the serpent, and God’s righteous judgment fell. And this sin of yielding to one’s wife is why many pastors and Christian leaders follow the pagan practices of Christmas and Easter today.
We can see the importance of understanding the propensity and devastation of this sin as we consider Adam & Eve, and how Eve was tempted by the legitimate desire for food because of the desires of the flesh, of the eyes, and the pride of life, but yielded to Satan’s deceitfulness and how it brought the entire human race into its present fallen condition. Then consider how our father Abraham yielded to Sarah who would not wait for God’s timing to fulfill her God given desire for a child, and how now we are seeing the constant worldwide warfare between Sarah’s seed of Isaac and Hagar’s seed of Ishmael. And then let us consider the wisest man who ever lived until the Lord Jesus came, Solomon (1 Kings 4:29-34; Luke 11:31), and how he did not control his natural love for women, and disobeyed God’s warning to any Israelite concerning marrying pagan women (Deuteronomy 7:1-6), and especially to a king: “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away” (Deuteronomy 17:17 KJV). After he married 700 wives and had 300 concubines he yielded to the false worship of their gods, and the penalty was the division of the nation (1 Kings 11:1-13), with the consequent repeated false worship of Israel’s kings and the ultimate removal of the nation from their God given land. Beloved, this sin is frequent, and the consequences are serious and severe.
I believe Ralph’s apostasy is perhaps the Classic example of yielding to and holding on to an evil spirit that has seduced one from the truth concerning a Classic truth that is so important, as all false religion and carnal Christianity is involved with this deception of spiritual Babylon.
Think of this beloved. A man who was saved and filled with the Spirit of Truth, does most of the research for a book himself, writes and teaches what he has learned is the truth for 30 years, and then completely reverses himself, denies the truth he himself has researched and written, and begins to accuse another, in this case Alexander Hislop, of error, and even writes to the publisher of many years of Hislop’s book, and they then succumb and quit publishing the book. But praise be to the Spirit of Truth, He has raised up computer technology and the internet and so anyone can download either The Two Babylons or Babylon Mystery Religion free, and examine the works for themselves.
Ralph has not only denied and reversed what he originally researched and wrote, but then wrote three other books that are so filled with error and ridiculous arguments, that elementary discernment can readily understand how foolish and demonic his arguments are.
After having read and distributed a number of his original books, and receiving his ministry newsletter, I wrote a letter to Ralph in love years ago. Since Ralph has persisted in his error in so many public ways, I post it here now to help anyone understand the most dramatic change that can happen to a person when they disobey God in some significant way, and then receive into themselves a false seducing spirit that drives them on in their error.

I conclude in my letter after a number of arguments concerning one point that is so historically established and easily proven that Ralph attempts to deny, and that is that Rome is “the city of seven hills” written about in Revelation 17. And consequently that Pagan Rome became Papal Rome.
I wrote after my arguments, and published the same in 1999 in my book, The church: “And only the spiritually blind, such as the uneducated, the willfully ignorant, or those hanging onto the same spirits and doctrines will not understand this! The amazing thing is that even some [Ralph Woodrow in particular] who once saw the truth and even taught it are now denying the truth! But the scripture is true and being fulfilled, ‘The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is [or, has become] darkness, how great is the darkness!’” (Mt. 6:22-23 NAS)

Since we are fast approaching the end of the age, additional prophetic fulfillments have and are being accomplished now. Babylon taught evolution and human involvement with space aliens. The last two popes have issued doctrinal statements embracing both evolution and belief in space aliens. They are involved with flying saucers and their spiritual (demonic) beings, and their Jesuit priests are daily watching the heavens with their powerful telescopes and expecting a dramatic encounter which they say will change the understanding of the gospel. This is all connected with a 900 year old prophecy from St. Malachy which predicted that this present pope is the last one, the final one until the the second coming of the Lord Jesus. For an excellent interview of the two investigative authors, Thomas Horn and Chris Putnam, who accurately predicted the resignation of Pope Benedict, and have revealed the documentation for this, I would suggest that you watch and listen as Sid Roth interviews them. I’ve read both of their major books explaining this, Petrus Romanus (528 pgs.) and Exo-Vaticana (609 pgs.), and they are extraordinarily revealing.

And then a very informative list of the characteristics of “The Beast” of Revelation, chapters 13, 17, and 18 which is fast coming to its final power and fulfillment as “it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them” and is finally destroyed by the Lord.
Concerning this “time of the end” we need to remember: “Many shall be purged, purified, and refined; but the wicked will act wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand” (Daniel 12:9-10 NAS).
